A leading aspirant for the Anambra Central Senatorial District under the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Prof. Jerry Ugokwe, has unveiled his legislative agenda, focusing on economic revitalisation, entrepreneurship, infrastructural development, and regional competitiveness ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ugokwe, a former Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, also expressed commitment to good governance and accountability, while advocating reforms that improve transparency and public trust.
The aspirant, who was also a former member of the House of Representatives, representing Idemili North and South Federal Constituency,
further declared his passion for education and youth development, saying Nigeria’s future depends on its young people.
“I’ll focus on quality education, skills acquisition, and innovation, rooted in decades of engagement with students and institutions,” he said.
A statement by his media team added that the aspirant would also give priority to effective legislation, strategic oversight, and authentic representation.
According to the statement, Ugokwe’s character is defined by quiet strength, thoughtful leadership, and unwavering integrity, adding that “he’s a man who listens, reflects, and acts with purpose, bringing clarity to a often noisy political environment.”

Ugokwe’s emergence has injected new energy into the Anambra Central Senatorial race, with many predicting a tough contest ahead, but with him as a candidate to watch in the 2027 elections.
