Prosperity Cup 2026: Liberty FC Crash Out as Silas Nets Record Fastest Goal

The Okaka Correctional Centre side, Liberty FC, have bowed out of Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football tournament, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, popularly known as the Prosperity Cup.
Liberty FC fell 2-0 to Donbai United after a goalless first half. The deadlock was broken in the 61st minute when Ebitari Ebipado scored an own goal, before Pulicar Saviour sealed the victory with a second goal in the 80th minute.
At the Kpansia centre, Bayelsa United Feeders continued their impressive form, thrashing Peace FC 5-1 to advance, following their earlier dominant performance against Osaro FC.
In other matches, United Stars edged Moving Stars FC 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at full time at the BDGS centre, while Sea Side FA defeated Jebs International School 2-1 to progress.
At the Igbogene centre, Akinima/Biogbo secured a 2-1 win over Gbarain Starlet, while Mighty-Mighty delivered a commanding 7-2 victory against Bayelsa Medical University Strikers.
Citiboi Feeders triumphed 3-1 over FC Silina at the Obunagha centre, and Brazil FC cruised past Dominion FC to book their place in the next round.
Global City recorded a 2-1 win against Super B FC at the Okordia centre, while Akenfa FC staged a remarkable comeback from two goals down to defeat Etevie FC 3-0 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.
At the Swali centre, Hummels Stars narrowly beat God’s Mercy City 1-0, while Izuo Gillet FC overcame Ikolo FC 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Meanwhile, a new record has been set in the tournament, as Benjamin Silas of MFM FC scored the fastest goal in Prosperity Cup history, finding the net just 11 seconds into their match against Slaughter FC. This surpasses the previous record of 53 seconds set by Ibibo Amos of Ewoi FC against Onuebum FC at the Kolo centre.
Looking ahead, the Ogbia LGA playoffs are scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Imiringi centre. Kolo Creek United will face Fuo Kings FC at 12 noon, while Edi 1 FC will take on Orashi FC at 3:00 pm.
The tournament action will also continue in Sagbama LGA, as the Prosperity Cup moves toward Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA in its next phase.
