Akpabio, at Easter Service, says insecurity will soon end

By Olugbenga Salami

Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Sunday at Easter service assured that Nigeria’s insecurity will become history sooner than people fear.

Speaking at an Easter convention of the Apostolic Church in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, he acknowledged the nation’s “moments of grief and loss,” from fallen security personnel to civilians killed at home, work or worship.

“Your pain is shared,” he said, offering comfort to bereaved families and honouring the memory of those cut down.

Akpabio drew a parallel between Christ’s resurrection and Nigeria’s outlook: darkness does not have the last word.

“Just as the resurrection revealed complete triumph, Nigeria will defeat insecurity, evil and fear,” he declared, urging citizens to reject hatred and embrace unity.

The Senate President asked Nigerians to renew faith in God and in the country’s future, saying joy comes after night‑long weeping.

The host, Apostle E.O. Akpan, joined in, saying the church’s prayers would help usher in peace and development.

Akpabio’s Easter message stressed compassion and solidarity, noting that Easter teaches “weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
