FCT Police Commissioner Embarks on Community Engagement Ahead of 2026 Elections

The Commissioner of Police for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), CP Miller G. Dantawaye, has embarked on an extensive community engagement tour across several Abuja communities ahead of the 2026 area council elections.

On Wednesday, the Police Commissioner visited Mabushi, Life Camp, Katampe, Kubwa, and the Bwari Area Council as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration between the police and host communities.

According to a statement issued by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, engagement sessions were held in Mabushi and Bwari with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, traditional rulers, community leaders, youth representatives, commercial tricycle and motorcycle associations, and other critical stakeholders.

The statement noted that the interactive forum “strengthened collaboration between the police and host communities, with a focus on improving police service delivery and promoting peaceful co-existence ahead of the forthcoming 2026 Area Council elections in the FCT.”

During the sessions, CP Dantawaye urged stakeholders to admonish their youths to maintain peace and mutual understanding, stressing that elections should not be treated as a do-or-die affair. He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to inclusive policing for effective security, emphasizing that this can only be achieved through mutual trust, timely information sharing, and active community participation.

The initiative underscores the police command’s proactive approach to ensuring peace and security in the FCT as the elections draw closer.
