Tinubu Orders Army Battalion Deployment to Kwara After Boko Haram Attack

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the deployment of an army battalion to Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State following a deadly overnight attack by Boko Haram terrorists in Worro community, which claimed the lives of innocent villagers.

According to a statement issued by his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, on Wednesday in Abuja, the President condemned the assault, describing the attackers as “cowardly and heartless” for targeting defenceless civilians in their campaign of terror.

Tinubu announced that the newly deployed battalion will spearhead Operation Savannah Shield, a military initiative designed to confront the terrorists and safeguard vulnerable communities in the region.

Expressing outrage, the President praised the resilience of the community members who, despite being Muslims, rejected extremist ideologies and chose to embrace peaceful forms of worship. “It’s commendable that the community members, even though Muslims, refused to be drawn into a strange belief system that encourages violence over peace and dialogue,” he said.

He called for close cooperation between federal and state authorities to support the affected community and ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.

President Tinubu also prayed for the souls of the victims and extended his condolences to the bereaved families, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to protecting Nigerians from terrorism and violence.
