The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested a notorious armed robbery gang that has been terrorizing residents of Abuja and recovered six stolen vehicles along with several household items.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspects include Mohammed Yanusa (21), Abubakar Mohammed (20), Isah Salihu (18), Nura Zakare (20), John Paul Itodo (62), Augustine Daudu (30), Musbau Ali (32), Innocent Omale (44), and Usman Mohammed (22).
Items recovered from the gang include four television sets, five HP laptops, two Lenovo laptops, one Zinox laptop, one Dell laptop, two generators, two solar batteries, and one pumping machine. Other items seized were a DJ mixer, four club lights, one speaker, 10 bottles of Lambrusco wine, 60 bottles of red wine, a GOTV decoder, a knife, a cooking gas cylinder, and an LG home theatre system.
The recovered vehicles are listed as a grey Toyota Camry with registration number MUS 234 CW, an ash-colored Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 549 CW, and an ash-colored Toyota Camry with registration number MKD 372 AU.
Police said the suspects were arrested on January 26, 2026, after operatives trailed them to their hideout in Nasarawa State, where they were allegedly planning another robbery in the Asokoro area of Abuja.
The arrests followed a report filed on January 18, 2026, when armed robbers broke into a residence in Jikwoyi, carting away personal belongings, an unspecified sum of money, and a Toyota Corolla with registration number KUJ 549 CW.
“Acting promptly on the report, police operatives attached to the Command’s Scorpion Squad commenced an extensive, intelligence-driven investigation which led to the arrest of the suspects,” the statement read.
The FCT Police Command assured residents that it remains committed to tackling crime and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the territory.
