Prominent basketball promoter and initiator of the Mark D’ Ball Basketball Championship, Mr. Igoche Mark, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for prioritizing sports development, describing Nigeria’s sports landscape as undergoing a “significant transformation.”
Mark commended the president’s Renewed Hope Initiative for Nigeria’s Sports Economy (RHINSE), which aims to position sports as a driver of job creation, tourism, investment, and global influence. He noted that government efforts now focus on infrastructure rehabilitation, grassroots engagement, and elite athlete development through the National Sports Commission.
“It is refreshing to know that Nigeria’s sports landscape is undergoing a significant transformation under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration,” Mark said. He revealed that he personally wrote to the president on February 10, 2026, to commend his efforts and encourage continuity.
Mark urged corporate entities to invest in Nigeria’s sports industry, citing national teams such as the Super Eagles, Super Falcons, D’Tigers, D’Tigress, and others as strong brands that can attract sponsorships. He emphasized that such investments would free up resources for grassroots sports development.
“With the government’s commitment and private sector involvement, Nigeria’s sports industry can progress geometrically,” he added, stressing that the evolving sports economy offers vast opportunities for entrepreneurship, tourism, and global recognition.
