CIPM Pledges Support for NYSC on Youth Mentorship, Empowerment, and National Integration

The Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) has expressed its commitment to partner with the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in consolidating achievements in youth mentorship, corps empowerment, and national integration.

During a visit to the NYSC Headquarters in Abuja, the Registrar and Chief Executive of CIPM, Ms. Oluwatoyin Naiwo, highlighted the institute’s statutory role as Nigeria’s sole regulator of human resource management practice, established by an Act of Parliament in 2004.

“As at today, we have over 20,000 certified members, including senior public officials, and we operate five zonal offices nationwide with our headquarters in Lagos,” Naiwo stated.

She commended the NYSC for its strides in preparing youths for leadership roles and equipping them with entrepreneurial skills for job creation. Naiwo further advocated stronger collaboration between both institutions, noting that NYSC’s reforms in skills development, digital innovation, and employability were repositioning the scheme as a powerful engine for national workforce readiness.

The CIPM Registrar stressed the need for corps members to be acquainted with the institute and guided appropriately for post-service opportunities. To this end, she proposed presentations during NYSC orientation courses to empower corps members with workplace insights and structured career planning.

Responding, NYSC Director-General Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu welcomed the proposal, affirming the scheme’s readiness to collaborate with organizations focused on youth development and national integration. He emphasized the importance of manpower development and disclosed that both agencies would form a joint technical team to work out modalities for stronger collaboration.
