Delta State Police gifts more than N16 million to families of fallen officers

As events leading to the grand finale of the National Police Day, which comes up on April 7 every year intensifies, the Delta State Police Command has presented cheques worth more than sixteen million naira to the families of officers who paid the Supreme sacrifice in their lines of duty.
The state Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, said that the sacrifices of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty remain invaluable and, so, will never be forgotten.

According to the Commissioner, the occasion which gives the opportunity for the celebration of fallen heroes is solemn, significant and reflects the commitment of the leadership of the Police Force to the welfare of its personnel and their families, and assured that the Nigeria Police Force will continue to stand by them.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer for the Delta State Police Command, SP SP Bright Edafe, a total sum of sixteen million, six hundred and seventy-nine thousand, seven hundred and forty-nine naira, ninety-two kobo was given to the families of 13 beneficiaries as part of efforts to support families of officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

According to the statement, one of the beneficiaries, identified as Ahanuwa Raphael who spoke on behalf of the other beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and th Delta State Police Command for the support extended to them, adding that it will go a long way to assisting the families of the fallen heroes who benefited.

The event which seeks to serve as a testament to the resilience, courage and dedication of police officers in their service to the country as inspirations to future generations to uphold the highest of service and integrity will end with a colorful parade at the Eagle Square, Abuja on April 7
