Easter: Emulate Christ’s sacrifice, love, Gov Oyebanji charges Christians

By Olugbenga Salami

Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji has described the Christ’s death and resurrection as “God’s greatest sacrifice” and urged Christians to emulate his virtues of humility, love, perseverance and compassion.

Congratulating Christians at home and abroad as they celebrate Easter’s message of sacrifice and redemption, he reminded them that “the events leading to the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ were epochal in the annals of Christianity and humanity.”

In a statement issued Saturday by his media adviser, Yinka Oyebode and obtained by our correspondent, the governor added that the events helped reminding humanity of virtues—sacrifice, harmony, peaceful coexistence—that Easter embodies.

He asked Christians to rethink relationships “as individuals, communities and a nation,” noting that resurrection typifies tolerance and affection.

“Let us positively impact friends, colleagues, neighbours and family,” he urged, pressing faithful to emulate Jesus in daily life.

Oyebanji also solicited prayers for a peaceful, successful Ekiti governorship poll on June 20.

He appealed to aspirants, party leaders and supporters to conduct themselves orderly before, during and after the election.

“Ekiti’s interest supersedes personal or partisan interest,” the governor said, calling for calm as campaigns intensify.
