The Federal Government has reiterated that the true measure of Nigeria’s tax reform agenda lies in how well it promotes equity and shared economic opportunities, rather than simply increasing government revenue.
Speaking at an event in Abuja, Taiwo Oyedele, who serves as Minister of State for Finance and heads the Presidential Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform Committee, noted that the reforms are structured to deliver inclusive growth across all sectors of society.
His remarks came during the unveiling of a policy document focused on strengthening gender inclusion and social equity.
The forum, hosted by the Policy Innovation Centre, attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including policymakers, private sector players, development partners, and civil society organisations.
Discussions at the gathering focused on the 2026 tax reform framework, with particular attention on how fiscal policies can improve access to economic opportunities for women, youths, and persons with disabilities, while fostering a more balanced and inclusive economy.
