FRSC Raises Alarm After Bauchi Road Tragedy

By Umar Sa’id, Bauchi

Three persons have been confirmed dead and 10 others injured following a fatal road crash along the Bauchi-Gombe Road.

The accident, which involved a Toyota Hiace bus conveying members of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA), occurred at Tumfere-Lakau axis in Bauchi State.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said the crash happened at about 11:30 a.m. and was reported 10 minutes later to its Bara Unit Command.

According to the FRSC report, the lone vehicle, with registration number KWL-03HC, was driven by Emmanuel Kwata and was returning from an evangelism outreach in Taraba State when the incident occurred.

The Corps attributed the crash to a tyre burst while the vehicle was in motion.

A total of 13 persons were involved in the accident, comprising 10 male adults and three female adults. Of these, 10 sustained injuries, while three victims—one male and two females—lost their lives.
FRSC rescue operatives led by DRC U. Maimako transported the victims to the Federal Teaching Hospital Gombe for treatment.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) confirmed the incident, expressing deep sorrow over the loss of its members.

In a statement by its Public Relations Officer, Danjuma Dickson Auta, the church identified the deceased as Mama Deborah Bonat, a former ECWA Women Fellowship International leader; Rev. Habila Tagwai Kajan, former Zonzon DCC Secretary; and Mama Lydia John.

The victims were part of a team returning from an EMS Saturation Outreach mission.
The church said it is working with relevant authorities to return the bodies of the deceased to their families for burial, while also extending condolences to the bereaved families and calling for prayers during this difficult time.
