The Inspector General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, on Monday, 9th March 2026, decorated eight newly promoted Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) in a ceremony held at the Force Headquarters, Abuja.
The newly promoted DIGs are Zachariah Fera Achinyang (fd), Zango Ibrahim Baba, Isiaku Mohammed, Margaret Agebe Ochalla, Mohammed Abdul Sulaiman (mni), Kenechuchwu Onwunemelie (fdc), Fayoade Adegoke Mustapha (mni), and Umar Shehu Nadada (mni).
According to a statement signed by the Force Deputy Public Relations Officer, CSP Isuku Victor, the IGP, the newly promoted DIGs, and the Force Secretary, AIG Olabode Adeleye Akinbamilowo (mnips, mspsp), now constitute the new Force Management Team.
In his address, IGP Disu described the ceremony as a recognition of decades of dedicated service, professional excellence, and leadership capacity. He charged the officers to provide strategic direction, strengthen internal discipline, drive reforms, and ensure policing strategies remain responsive to evolving security challenges.
He urged them to leverage their experience in intelligence-led policing, operational coordination, inter-agency collaboration, and accountability, while inspiring confidence within the Force and trust among the public.
The IGP extended gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Police Service Commission for ensuring transparency and professionalism in the promotion process. He also acknowledged the families of the newly decorated officers for their sacrifices and encouragement, which he said were critical to their distinguished careers.
