Make Jannah your goal, scholar advises Muslims

By Olugbenga Salami

Founder of Al-Hakeem Islamic Education & Da’wah, AIED, Ustaz AbdulHakeem Adebayo AbdulRasheed, has charged Muslims to make Jannah (paradise) their goal after completing the Ramadan fast.

In a statement titled: “After Ramadan, your journey doesn’t end” posted on his Facebook page, the Islamic scholar enjoined them not to destroy what they built in Ramadan by staying away from old habits.

“Ramadan was not the goal—Jannah is the goal. We must not rest until the goal is achieved. May Allah grant us Jannah. Amin,” he stated.

Ustaz AbdulHakeem, who also founded the Al-Hakeem Islamic Foundation of Nigeria, AIFN, explained that the primary benefits are experienced in the eternal abode of Jannah (Paradise), which is described in the Quran and Hadith as a place of unmatched bliss and peace.

According to him, gaining paradise in Islam offers believers a multitude of benefits that encompass physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being, both in the afterlife and as a source of motivation in this world.

“We thank Allah Who favour us with completion of Ramadan fasting, there some critical questions we must sincerely ask ourselves, that is, What I have gained in the last Ramadan; enlist the sins we have abandoned or stay away from; ones connection to his extended family; kindness to the needy.

“After Ramadan, your journey doesn’t end—it actually begins. Here’s what you should focus on next: Stay consistent, don’t drop your worship, even small deeds matter if they continue.

“The Prophet said: ‘The most beloved deeds to Allah are those done consistently, even if small.

“Pray all five daily prayers. Hold firmly to your Salat—it is your daily connection with Allah.

“Keep Reading the Qur’an. Ramadan was the training—now continue, even if just a few verses daily.

“Fast six days of Shawwal. Whoever fasts Ramadan then follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if he fasted the whole year. (Muslim)

“Avoid returning to sins. Don’t destroy what you built in Ramadan. Stay away from old habits.

“Increase Dhikr and Du‘a. Keep remembering Allah and asking Him for acceptance.

“Give charity regularly. Even small sadaqah keeps your heart soft and your deeds growing.

“Keep good company. Stay close to people who help your Iman—not those who pull you back.

“Fear for your deeds. The righteous worry if their Ramadan was accepted,” the post reads.

He added that the highest and most significant benefit is achieving the good pleasure of Allah, where He will grant His inhabitants the ability to gaze upon Him, a joy surpassing all other rewards.
