Nasarawa Accountant-General Resigns, Joins 2027 Governorship Race

By Augustine Kuza, Lafia

The Accountant-General of Nasarawa State, Musa Ahmed Mohamed, has resigned his position to join the 2027 governorship race in the state.

Mohamed announced his decision on Monday, stating that he was responding to sustained calls from stakeholders and supporters across the state who believe in his leadership capacity.

“For your sake and for the sake of the people of Nasarawa State, I have accepted to contest for the number one seat of the state,” he said.

He explained that his decision followed years of pressure from various groups urging him to step forward and offer leadership ahead of the next election cycle.

“I have resigned my appointment as Accountant General to join the race. For the past three years, you have been calling on me to contest for the position of Governor of Nasarawa State. I have accepted your call,” he added.

His resignation comes amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections, with several aspirants positioning themselves for key offices.

The development follows a recent meeting between Governor Sule and governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Abuja, signaling increased momentum within the party ahead of the primaries.
