NiDCOM Mourns Killing of Nigerian Student in UK, Calls for Justice

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) has expressed deep grief over the tragic killing of 20-year-old Nigerian student, Khaleed Oladipo, who was fatally stabbed in Leicester, United Kingdom.

In a condolence message signed by Abdur-Rahman Balogun, Head of Media Unit of NiDCOM, on behalf of the Commission’s Chairman, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, the agency described the incident as heartbreaking and a devastating loss to both the Oladipo family and Nigeria as a whole.

Oladipo, a second-year Cybersecurity student at De Montfort University, was reportedly attacked while on his way home to watch a football match. Dabiri-Erewa said Khaleed was a promising young man whose life and future were cruelly cut short. She extended her condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues, praying for strength and comfort during this difficult time.

The NiDCOM boss called on UK authorities to conduct a thorough and transparent investigation into the killing, stressing the importance of justice. She reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to the welfare, safety, and protection of Nigerians abroad, assuring that NiDCOM will continue to engage with relevant stakeholders to safeguard the rights of Nigerians in the diaspora.

NiDCOM also urged Nigerians living abroad to remain vigilant and promptly report any security concerns to appropriate authorities.

The Commission emphasized that the tragic incident underscores the need for continued vigilance and stronger protective measures for Nigerians overseas.
