The Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday held a valedictory session in honour of Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, OON, who voluntarily resigned after a tenure marked by transformative leadership and international engagement.
The ceremony brought together senior officials, directors, staff, and foreign policy stakeholders. Permanent Secretary Ambassador Dunoma Umar Ahmed, PhD, praised Tuggar’s efforts in strengthening bilateral and multilateral relations, promoting economic diplomacy, and enhancing Nigeria’s global profile.
Colleagues highlighted his emphasis on innovation, discipline, and institutional development. Ambassador Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, presented a citation celebrating Tuggar’s key achievements, including the Four-D Foreign Policy Doctrine—Democracy, Development, Demography, and Diaspora—as well as milestones in citizen protection and institutional reform.
In his farewell remarks, Tuggar thanked ministry staff for their cooperation and reaffirmed the importance of diplomacy in national development, urging sustained support to ensure Nigeria remains globally engaged.
