The Plateau State Police Command has arrested 27 suspects in an intelligence-led operation targeting criminal flashpoints across the state.

The arrests were made at about 11:05 p.m. in Alheri, Apata, Busa-Buji, and Angwan Suya areas, according to the command’s spokesperson, SP Alfred Alabo. He confirmed that substances suspected to be Indian hemp were recovered from the suspects during the raid.

Alabo explained that the operation was aimed at restoring normalcy and preventing criminal elements from exploiting the prevailing security situation to cause unrest.

Commissioner of Police, Bassey Ewah, described the raid as part of proactive measures to sustain law and order in Plateau State. He warned individuals or groups planning to foment trouble to desist, assuring that the command would deal decisively with offenders.

Ewah added that profiling of the suspects is ongoing, while further investigations will determine their involvement in criminal activities for possible prosecution.

To bolster security, operational and intelligence assets have been deployed to strategic locations across the state to enhance police presence and reassure residents of their safety.

The command urged members of the public to support security efforts by volunteering timely and credible information to law enforcement agencies.
