Prosperity Cup: Akenfa FC Hit 8 in Goal Fest

‎Akenfa FC of Akenfa and Ikolo FC of Ikolo have continued their impressive run in Nigeria’s biggest grassroots football showpiece, the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged the Prosperity Cup.

‎bashed U. James FA by eight goals to one to make a statement of intent in the tournament. Williams Robert opened the harvest of goals ten minutes into the encounter from a finely finished effort with Ebi Moses recording a hat trick for the coach Wilson Mumeya-managed side.

‎Super B FC earlier at the Okordia centre beat Tovie FC 6-5 on penalties after a goalless draw in regulation time to reach the next round of the tournament.

‎At the Bishop Dimeari Grammar School, BDGS centre, United Stars FC defeated Solid Stars FC 4-2 on penalties in the battle of stars to advance to the next round of the competition. Sea Side FA in the second game pipped New Chester by a lone goal to advance into the next round of the competition.

‎The National Youths Service Corps, NYSC FC, at the Biogbolo centre pipped Ohaneze Ndigbo by a lone goal while Afini FC in the last match at the centre humbled Oyis FA by three goals to one.

‎Akinima/Biogbo FC at the Igbogene centre demolished Royal FC five nil to progress to the next round of the competition. Bayelsa Medical University BMU Strikers in the second game thrashed Okotiama FC four nil, having won their protest against Okordia United.

‎Donbai United at the Kpansia centre edged out Agbura FC by two unreplied goals. Peace FC in the second game crushed Northern Strikers by four goals to one.

‎Citiboi Feeders at the Obunagha centre walloped Starlight FA by six unreplied goals to keep their hopes of winning the tournament alive. Dominion FC defeated Rich Destiny FA 4-3 on penalties after a two-all draw in normal time.

‎Playing at the Swali centre, God’s Mercy City trounced Ghen FC six goals to nil to secure qualification to the next phase of the tournament. Ikolo FC in the second game eased out Experience FC by three goals to one to continue their impressive form in the season 8 of the spectacle.

‎Federal Polytechnic, Ekowe at the Eniwari centre triumphed 6-5 on penalties over Enewari FC, after a one-all draw in regulation time. The victory moves the Ekowe side into the round of 32 in the competition.

‎Action will resume on Friday 27th March, 2026 in Sagbama LGA after weeks of hostilities in the tournament.
