Tinubu Nominates Taiwo Oyedele as Minister of State for FinanceĀ

President Bola Tinubu has nominated his tax reform expert, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, as the Minister of State for Finance, replacing Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite.

Until his nomination, Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram, Akoko in Ondo State, served as chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, where he led the overhaul of Nigeria’s tax system. President Tinubu conveyed the nomination to the Senate for confirmation in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday.

Uzoka-Anite, who previously held the finance portfolio, will be redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning as Minister of State, marking her third portfolio in the administration.

Oyedele, 50, is an economist, accountant, and public policy expert. He studied accountancy and finance at Yaba College of Technology, where he obtained a Higher National Diploma (HND), and later earned a BSc in applied accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He also completed executive education programmes at the London School of Economics, Yale University, the Gordon Institute of Business Science, and the Harvard Kennedy School.

He spent 22 years at PwC, joining in 2001 and rising to become Fiscal Policy Partner and Africa Tax Leader. In addition to his professional career, Oyedele is a professor at Babcock University in Ogun State and a visiting scholar at the Lagos Business School.
