Troops Repel Terrorist Ambush, Recover ₦37 Million Linked to Financing

Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) under the Nigerian military’s Joint Task Force (North East) have repelled a terrorist ambush along a known crossing route in the North-East, recovering logistics supplies and ₦37 million allegedly tied to terrorist financing.

In a statement issued Monday, the military said the operation builds on recent defensive successes in Pulka and Madara-Girau, as troops shift into “deliberate logistics strangulation operations” aimed at crippling terrorist supply networks.

According to the statement, Sector 1 troops, working with vigilante forces, were strategically positioned along a route frequently used by suspected Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) elements moving from the Cameroon axis into Nigeria. The terrorists, unaware of the concealed deployment, ran into effective enfilade fire and were forced to withdraw in disarray.

Authorities confirmed that the ambush attempt collapsed after insurgents encountered superior firepower. Troops combed the area and recovered a sizeable cache of logistics supplies intended for terrorist resupply operations, significantly disrupting their sustainment capacity.

The military added that troops remain in firm control of the area and are conducting further exploitation operations to consolidate gains.

In a separate operation, personnel at the Forward Operating Base, Chabbal Checkpoint, intercepted a suspicious vehicle carrying five occupants, further tightening security measures across the theatre of operations.

This development underscores the military’s intensified focus on cutting off terrorist financing and logistics chains, a strategy aimed at weakening insurgent operational reach in the North-East.
