Governor AbdulRazaq Urges Kwara APC Executives to Ensure Fair Primaries

Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Wednesday charged the newly inaugurated executives of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state to work harder and guarantee a fair playing field for all aspirants ahead of the party’s primaries.

Speaking in Ilorin at the swearing-in ceremony, the Governor congratulated the executives on their emergence, describing the APC as a “big house that accommodates everybody.” He urged them to rally behind the Chairman to ensure success.

“Your work is cut out for you. In the next few months, you will face a lot of pressure from party members because the primaries are coming and people have various interests. Each person who wants to contest has his or her own plans for the state. Don’t see any of the aspirants as antagonists or enemies. They all have a lot to offer. Try to give them a levelled playing field in whatever you do,” AbdulRazaq said.

He emphasized that the collective goal is to leave Kwara better than they met it, adding: “If the Chairman fails, you all fail. Therefore, I wish you all the best.”

State APC Chairman Prince Sunday Fagbemi assured party members of fairness, pledging inclusivity. “We have committed ourselves to do right to all manners of people, not to some people,” he said. He noted that the party currently controls all council chairmen, councillors, House of Assembly members, National Assembly members, as well as the Governor and his Deputy, stressing the need to “enlarge the margin of victory” in future elections.
