APC deploys officials, materials for Bayelsa National Assembly primaries

By Eunice Nnachi, Yenagoa

The Electoral Panel overseeing the National Assembly primaries of the All Progressives Congress has announced the deployment of officials and electoral materials for the conduct of the party’s House of Representatives and Senate primary elections across Bayelsa State.
Chairman of the Electoral Committee, Solomon Ogba, disclosed this during a press briefing in Yenagoa ahead of the commencement of the exercise.

Ogba said members of the committee had fully arrived in the state and had already begun the necessary preparations to ensure a smooth, credible, and transparent primary election process for the emergence of the party’s candidates for the forthcoming National Assembly elections.

According to him, the committee carefully selected competent and credible officials to supervise the exercise across wards and federal constituencies in the state, stressing that maintaining the integrity of the process remains a major priority for the party.

He explained that all sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials had been distributed to designated polling centres across the state to ensure a hitch-free exercise.

“The committee has distributed all the necessary electoral materials to the designated polling areas across the state. The APC in Bayelsa State has adopted the direct primary option in line with Section 84, Subsection 2 of the Electoral Act for the conduct of this exercise,” Ogba stated.

He assured party members and stakeholders that adequate measures had been put in place to guarantee a free, fair, peaceful, and transparent process. He further noted that only persons with proven records of integrity, accountability, and impartiality were appointed to conduct the elections.

The committee chairman urged party faithful to remain law-abiding and actively participate in the democratic process, describing the primary election as an important step toward strengthening internal democracy within the APC.

Ogba also commended the Bayelsa State Government, security agencies, and residents of the state for their cooperation and support in creating a peaceful atmosphere ahead of the primaries.

He expressed confidence that the process would produce credible candidates capable of representing the interests and aspirations of party members and the people of the state at the National Assembly.

The APC primaries are expected to determine the party’s flag bearers for the Senate and House of Representatives seats ahead of the next general elections.
