G-60 Lawmakers Dismiss Forgery Claims, Insist Ikenga’s Nomination Followed Due Process

By Aaron Ossai

The G-60 Minority Caucus of the House of Representatives wishes to firmly refute allegations of forgery regarding the nomination of Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere of the Action People’s Party, APP for the position of Minority Leader.

“We state unequivocally that there was no fake signature or forgery involved in the nomination process. Every signature appended to the nomination document was voluntarily provided by the respective lawmakers.

“Of the 81 members that make up the Minority Caucus, 61 lawmakers freely endorsed Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere’s nomination to fill the vacancy created following the exit of Hon. Kingsley Chinda, who left the position after his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) and subsequent emergence as the party’s governorship candidate in Rivers State.

“We are particularly concerned by the allegation made by the Deputy House Spokesperson, Hon. Philip Agbese, during plenary that his signature was forged on the endorsement list. This allegation is false, misleading, and does not reflect the facts.

“To ensure transparency and set the record straight, video evidence is available showing Hon. Agbese personally signing the nomination document. This footage will be made available alongside this statement to provide the public with verifiable proof and to dispel any misinformation surrounding the process.

“The G-60 Minority Caucus remains committed to due process, democratic principles, and the collective interests of opposition lawmakers in the House of Representatives. Efforts to undermine a transparent and legitimate process through unsubstantiated allegations should be rejected.

“We urge members of the public, stakeholders, and the media to disregard claims of forgery and rely on the available evidence and established facts regarding the nomination process”chu, a statement signed by Hon. Mukhtar Umar said.
