A group, the National PDP Consensus for the Survival of Democracy in Nigeria, has called for a security investigation into comments allegedly made by former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, regarding recent abductions in Oyo State.
Speaking with journalists on Monday in Abuja, the group’s convener, Mr. Ochachangolo Armstrong Adah, said Fayose’s remarks had raised security concerns that should not be ignored.
“The failure to arrest and investigate him now could endanger more indigenes of Oyo State and its environs while further deteriorating an already fragile security situation,” he said.
He argued that any individual perceived to possess information relating to criminal activities should be questioned by law enforcement agencies.
Adah maintained that the request was not politically motivated, but was aimed at supporting efforts to tackle insecurity.
The group also urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering and ensure that those responsible for the kidnappings are brought to justice.
While expressing sympathy with affected families, the organisation commended Governor Seyi Makinde and federal authorities for ongoing efforts to rescue the victims.
Former Governor Fayose had earlier alleged that the Oyo State Government may have orchestrated the May 2026 abduction of school children in Oriire Local Government Area to blackmail President Bola Tinubu.
He claimed Governor Makinde delayed his response for political reasons, and stated that the President will not “fly from Abuja to his state” to fix local insecurity.
Fayose has yet to respond publicly to the group’s demands.
