Interior designer and ex-wife of comedian Ayo Makun (AY), Mabel Makun, has stirred reactions with a cryptic post on her Instagram page. Sharing new photos of herself, she wrote: “Living life easy, no rush, and no stress, just me.”
Her post comes just days after she reunited with AY at their daughter’s preschool graduation. Mabel had shared photos from the ceremony, expressing pride in her daughter. Earlier this year, the former couple also reunited at their second daughter’s birthday celebration in school, where AY surprisingly included Mabel in his video for the first time since their separation.
Mabel’s recent reflections follow her silence after the burial of late actor Alex Ekubo, with whom she was close. She revealed that Ekubo had always advised her to remain silent, noting that while she has much to say, she doesn’t know where to begin, hence her withdrawal from public commentary.
The couple’s marriage ended in April 2023 after nearly 20 years together. AY confirmed the separation, admitting to compromises during the marriage and expressing regret over losing his home. He also cautioned against false narratives that could harm their teenage daughter. Mabel, in her own statement, acknowledged that her dream of a lifelong marriage had taken a different turn, urging the public to respect their privacy as they navigate a new phase.
