Wike orders immediate work on Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini road

By Eunice Orike

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has directed Lubrik Construction Company to immediately commence work on the Zaudna-Kaba-Kagini community road after residents used a banner to highlight its poor condition during the commissioning of the rehabilitated Old Keffi Road in Abuja.

Wike gave the directive on Thursday at the inauguration of the 17-kilometre Old Keffi Road project, which was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu. He explained that the residents’ strategy of drawing attention to their plight mirrored a similar approach used by another community that successfully secured government intervention.

Inviting the residents forward, Wike announced that their request had been granted: “I have directed the Executive Secretary of the FCDA to tell Lubrik Construction Company to move to the area immediately and begin work on the road.”

The minister emphasised that improving road connectivity is a major objective of the Renewed Hope Agenda, given its direct impact on economic activities, especially for farmers, traders, and small business owners. He assured that the FCT Administration is committed to addressing infrastructure challenges whenever communities bring them to government’s attention.

Wike recalled that residents and traders in Dei-Dei, Kado, and neighbouring communities had previously appealed for the rehabilitation of the Old Keffi Road, describing it as essential to their daily lives and businesses. He noted that the completion of the project has fulfilled a major promise made to residents and would significantly ease transportation challenges.

“Today, we are commissioning this road, and all the promises made to the people have been fulfilled,” he said, adding that the rehabilitated road would boost commercial activities and ease the burden on thousands of commuters.

The minister reaffirmed that the FCT administration will continue investing in critical infrastructure projects to improve livelihoods, expand economic opportunities, and ensure that communities across the territory benefit from development.
