Tinubu has made Niger Delta peaceful region – Otuaro

By Ere-ebi Agedah Imisi

The Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, PAP, Dr. Dennis Otuaro, has attributed the relative peace and stability in the Niger Delta to the policies of President Bola Tinubu, describing the oil-rich region as the most peaceful in Nigeria.

Otuaro made the remarks on Monday while declaring open the sixth batch of the two-day Leadership, Alternative Dispute Resolution and Mediation Training for PAP stakeholders at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja.

He said the programme’s peacebuilding initiatives, backed by the Tinubu administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, had significantly transformed the security situation in the region.

According to him, the sustained support of President Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, has strengthened the Presidential Amnesty Programme and contributed to lasting peace across the Niger Delta.

Otuaro noted that the administration’s investment in education through the PAP had also played a key role in promoting stability, revealing that about 8,500 scholarship beneficiaries are currently studying in Nigerian universities, while 247 others are pursuing postgraduate programmes abroad.

He maintained that the Niger Delta had moved beyond its history of unrest and militancy, insisting that the region was now the most peaceful in the country.

“We want to say it unapologetically that the Niger Delta is the most peaceful region in Nigeria. Our peacebuilding process is working under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu and with the support of the Office of the National Security Adviser,” he said.

The PAP administrator also declared that the people of the Niger Delta would overwhelmingly support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, arguing that the administration had demonstrated commitment to the region’s development and welfare.

He said the people would not be distracted by what he described as the rhetoric of “political businessmen,” expressing confidence that Tinubu would deliver more dividends of democracy if re-elected.
