Police nab alleged impostor agency DG, Adeyemi in Osun hours after court ordered his arrest

By Godwin Ogar

The Nigeria Police Force has arrested Adeniyi Adeyemi, the self-proclaimed Director-General of the controversial Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council, PFIPC  in Osun State hours after a Federal High Court in Abuja issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, Abiodun Ojelabi, confirmed the arrest, saying Adeyemi was apprehended at his hideout by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) from Abuja. He is expected to be transferred to the Federal Capital Territory later on Tuesday.

“Yes, it is confirmed. The Intelligence Response Team from Abuja arrested him here in Osun,” Ojelabi was quoted to have said.

A video circulating online captured the moment of Adeyemi’s arrest. He was dressed in a light blue traditional outfit and surrounded by security operatives.

In the footage, Adeyemi appeared composed but visibly tensed as officers questioned him. When asked to identify himself, he initially avoided giving a direct answer.

“I’ve mentioned it, sir,” he responded.

The officers pressed further, asking, “Mention it for us, please. What is your name? What is your name?”

Adeyemi replied, “I’ve said it several times.”

It would be recalled that his arrest followed a bench warrant issued by Justice Mohammed Umar of the Federal High Court in Abuja after he failed to appear for arraignment on charges bordering on alleged conspiracy, forgery, and impersonation.

Adeyemi was scheduled to take his plea before Justice Mohammed Umar on an eight-count charge involving alleged forgery, fraud and impersonation.

The case, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/562/2025 was called for hearing, but the defendant was absent. Following his failure to appear, the court issued a bench warrant for his arrest, according to Channels Television on Tuesday.

The charges, filed by police prosecutor Wisdom Madaki on November 27, 2025, also name two other defendants.
