By Ngozi Nwankwo

Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, has expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will secure re-election in 2027, citing the administration’s economic reforms and improving macroeconomic indicators.

Speaking in an interview on Monday, Alausa said the President has delivered on key promises through “bold economic reforms” that are transforming the economy and laying the foundation for sustainable growth.

He said Nigeria’s progress is now backed by data from credible institutions, not political rhetoric.

“Reports by the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank, Bloomberg and the National Bureau of Statistics affirm that the country’s economic reforms are producing measurable results and strengthening confidence in the economy,”the Minister said.

Alausa noted that inflation is gradually easing, economic activities are expanding, and other critical indices are showing steady improvement.

The Minister stressed that the administration is focused on sustainability rather than short-term gains.

“The President is focused on building a stronger Nigeria for generations to come. These reforms are not designed for short-term gains but to create lasting prosperity. There is no value in making difficult decisions if they cannot stand the test of time,” he said.

According to him, the government’s commitment to fiscal discipline and structural reforms is already yielding positive outcomes across several sectors and positioning Nigeria for inclusive growth and increased productivity.

Reaffirming his confidence in the administration, Alausa said President Tinubu’s performance will remain the strongest basis for seeking another mandate in 2027 as Nigerians continue to see the impact of ongoing reforms.

“As Nigerians continue to witness improvements in economic indicators and the positive impact of ongoing reforms, President Tinubu’s performance will remain the strongest basis for seeking another mandate in 2027,”he said.

The Minister further reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to policies that strengthen the economy, improve citizens’ welfare and advance the Renewed Hope Agenda.
