Bandits kill 2, abduct 26 in Kaduna

Fresh bandit attacks on communities in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State have left two people dead, one injured, and 26 other residents abducted.

The attacks, according to reports, took place in Tunburku, Tudun Amada and Kallon Kura communities in the Giwa Local Government Areaof the state.

The Public Relations Officer of the Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KadVS), Mr Yunusa Shehu confirmed the simultaneous attacks to newsmen in a statement issued on Tuesday September 8, 2026 in Kaduna.

Mr. Shehu said the bandits attacked Tunburku in Kidandan District and Tudun Amada in Kadage District almost simultaneously in the early hours of Monday September 8, resulting to the death of two (2) residents identified as Alhaji Surajo and Alhaji Ado, in Tunburku, while 26 residents of Tudun Amada were abducted.

Another resident, Ayyuba Usman, sustained injuries during the attacks, which occurred at about 12:30 a.m. on Monday, according to Mr. Shehu.

In a separate incident which reportedly occurred at around 9pm on Saturday, the bandits also invaded Kura in Danmahawayi District and rustled cattle belonging to residents.

According to the KadVS spokesperson, the number of cattle taken has not been established but, following intelligence on the movement of the bandits and the stolen cattle, KadVS personnel mobilised to track the attackers and recovered19 cattle from the bandits at about midnight that same Saturday, September 5.

When contacted by newsmen in Kaduna, the Police Public Relations Officer for the Kaduna State Command, DSP Mansur Hassan, said he was yet to be briefed on the matter as the operation was conducted under the supervision of the KadVS Sector Coordinator in Giwa Local Government Area.
