Wife of the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources and National Coordinator of the Tinubu Health Sector Practitioners Alliance (TIHSEPA), Dr Ogechi Lokpobiri, has urged Nigerian women and health professionals to support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Lokpobiri made the call on Friday in Abuja, saying the administration’s reform policies required sustained support to address longstanding economic challenges and promote national development.
She acknowledged that some of the reforms had created short-term difficulties for Nigerians but argued that they should be considered within the context of the government’s broader economic objectives.
According to her, the policies were aimed at repositioning critical sectors of the economy and strengthening Nigeria’s standing in the international community.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has demonstrated the courage to take difficult decisions in the interest of the country, while reforms may come with challenges, we must also look at their broader objectives and the opportunities they are creating for a stronger and more sustainable Nigeria,” she said.
The TIHSEPA coordinator called on women to participate actively in the political process, noting that their involvement was important in shaping policies affecting families and communities.
She urged women across the country to mobilise peacefully in support of government programmes which, she said, were designed to improve healthcare delivery, strengthen social welfare and create economic opportunities.
“Women cannot afford to remain on the sidelines. We have a responsibility to participate actively in the affairs of our country and to support policies and programmes that we believe will advance the wellbeing of our families and communities,” she added.
Lokpobiri also commended the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as an “Icon of Impact” for her interventions targeting women, children and vulnerable Nigerians.
She specifically highlighted the First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative, which she said complemented the Federal Government’s programmes in social welfare, healthcare, education and economic empowerment.
According to her, greater attention to the needs of women and families was important for inclusive leadership and national development.
Lokpobiri also called on health professionals to contribute their expertise to discussions on healthcare reforms, stressing that an accessible and responsive health system was essential to national productivity and economic growth.
She said TIHSEPA would continue to engage health-sector practitioners and other stakeholders on healthcare improvement and initiatives aimed at advancing national development.
The coordinator also appealed to Nigerians to maintain national unity and allow the administration’s policies and programmes to be implemented, expressing optimism that sustained reforms would create more opportunities for citizens.
