…Says Katsina benefited massively from interventions

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State has asked the Tertiary Education Trust Fund,TETFund, to ensure its support for lecturers and academic development is tailored to changing global realities and Nigeria’s pressing economic challenges.
Radda said funding must go beyond buildings and equipment to produce graduates with practical skills to solve Nigeria’s problems.
“We should ensure that what they are supporting the lecturers with is in tune with the global challenges that we are facing, and it has to be along with the economic challenges the country faces, so that our graduates will be solving problems,” he said.
The governor spoke on the sidelines of the 2026 TETFund Board of Trustees National Town Hall Meeting in Abuja on Thursday.
While commending the Fund for its interventions, Radda said Katsina State has benefited significantly from TETFund investments across state-owned tertiary institutions and federal institutions located in the state.
“Katsina State has benefited greatly from the intervention of TETFund. They have done so much in the development of our state universities, state tertiary institutions, as well as federal tertiary institutions,” he said.
According to him, the interventions have helped rebuild infrastructure, strengthen institutional capacity and expand admission spaces for students.
He said sustained investment in tertiary education remains critical to expanding access and positioning universities to respond to emerging national and global demands.
Radda urged TETFund to deepen support for teaching quality, research relevance and skills development, stressing that physical infrastructure alone will not deliver the workforce Nigeria needs.
He expressed optimism that with continued and well-targeted investment, tertiary institutions would be better equipped to deliver quality education and contribute meaningfully to national development.
