JAGABA/KAURA launches campus ambassadors to mobilise support for Tinubu, Idris’ re-election

The JAGABA/KAURA Students’ Mandate 2027, Kebbi State Chapter, has inaugurated campus ambassadors across tertiary institutions in the state to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The initiative is aimed at engaging students, promoting the achievements of the two administrations in education and youth development, and encouraging young people to support their second-term bids.

The Kebbi State Coordinator of the movement, Comrade Faisal Abdullahi, said the initiative was designed to establish a network of student representatives who would organise campus engagements, promote government policies and mobilise support for the president and governor.

Abdullahi said the group considered students important stakeholders in governance, adding that the initiative would provide them with an opportunity to understand government policies and participate actively in the electoral process.

He said the movement was particularly impressed by the investments of the federal and Kebbi State governments in education, human capital development and youth empowerment.

According to him, the Federal Government, under Tinubu, has introduced several interventions to expand access to higher education and improve opportunities for young Nigerians.

He identified the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), which provides financial assistance to students in tertiary institutions to cover tuition fees and upkeep, as one of the initiatives aimed at reducing the financial burden on students and their families.

The coordinator also highlighted the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programme, which provides practical skills training in areas such as electrical installation, welding and digital technology, alongside stipends and starter packs for eligible beneficiaries.

He further cited the Federal Government’s engagement with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and interventions through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) to support research, innovation and infrastructure development in higher institutions.

At the state level, Abdullahi commended Governor Idris for what he described as sustained investment in education through free-education and scholarship programmes for eligible Kebbi students.

He also listed teacher recruitment, renovation and rehabilitation of schools, provision of learning materials and support for public examination fees among the administration’s interventions in the education sector.

The group further identified the development of mega schools with academic and vocational components as part of efforts to equip students with conventional education and practical skills.

On teachers’ welfare, Abdullahi cited the reported extension of teachers’ retirement age to 65 years and their service period to 40 years, describing the measure as important to retaining experienced teachers and strengthening the state’s education system.

He added that scholarship opportunities and other educational support programmes had also assisted eligible Kebbi indigenes, including those pursuing postgraduate studies.

On youth development, the coordinator said the state government had introduced and supported vocational training, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship programmes to improve young people’s employability and economic independence.

He also identified women empowerment initiatives as part of the administration’s efforts to promote economic inclusion and improve livelihoods across communities.

Abdullahi said the newly inaugurated campus ambassadors would serve as a link between the movement and students in their respective institutions, providing platforms for discussions on government policies, education and development.

He said, “The future of Kebbi State depends significantly on the quality of education and opportunities available to its young people. Students must therefore be active participants in conversations about governance, development and the future of our state.

“Our Campus Ambassadors initiative is intended to strengthen that engagement and ensure that students have access to information about policies and programmes that affect their lives.”

The coordinator urged students to participate actively in the electoral process and support the re-election of Tinubu and Idris, expressing confidence that their continued leadership would sustain development initiatives in the country and Kebbi State.
