Former Niger Delta ex-agitator and philanthropist, self-styled General Endurance Amagbein, has appealed to Nigerians to remain calm and support ongoing efforts to address the country’s security challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amagbein, popularly known as Adaka Boro II, made the appeal in a statement issued to journalists in Abuja over the weekend.
He acknowledged the pain and hardship experienced by victims of kidnapping and violent attacks across the country, expressing sympathy for families who have lost loved ones to insecurity. Despite the challenges, he maintained that there is hope, noting that security agencies are making concerted efforts to combat banditry, kidnapping, terrorism, and other violent crimes.
According to him, overcoming the nation’s security crisis requires the collective support of citizens, rather than actions or rhetoric that could deepen divisions and undermine government efforts.
Amagbein alleged that political interests are contributing to the security situation, claiming that some opposition politicians are exploiting the crisis to discredit the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 elections.
He further alleged that some individuals who previously benefited from the current administration have since turned against the government due to personal political interests.
Calling for unity, the former freedom fighter urged Nigerians not to lose faith in the country but to stand together against those he described as enemies of the nation who are using insecurity to destabilize the government before the next general election.
He also expressed concern over reports of community leaders allegedly becoming involved in criminal activities such as kidnapping and banditry, while blaming the federal government for the resulting insecurity.
Amagbein, however, maintained that President Bola Tinubu should not be held responsible for the nation’s security challenges. He argued that the administration’s ongoing military operations and security interventions demonstrate the president’s commitment to protecting lives and restoring peace.
While acknowledging that insecurity remains a major concern, he said the government has recorded successes in neutralizing terrorists and insurgents, adding that such achievements often receive less public attention than negative developments.
He called on his supporters and other Nigerians to continue backing President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, saying the administration should be given more time to implement its policies and address the country’s challenges.
Amagbein also reaffirmed his unwavering support for President Tinubu, pledging to continue standing by the administration.
