2027: Kwara APC chieftain, Araba calls for unity, says Wike’s endorsement signals advantage

By Kayode Abdulazeez, Ilorin

A chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) Engr. Femi Sanni (Araba), has called for unity among party stakeholders, even as he described the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as further proof of the President’s political acceptability ahead of 2027 general elections.

In a statement issued on Friday, Araba, who was also governorship aspirant in Kwara State, said Wike’s support, despite his standing in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), reflects growing confidence across party lines in President Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.

“When a leading opposition figure publicly backs President Tinubu’s re-election, it confirms that the APC remains the party to beat,” he said.

Araba said the same political reality exists in Kwara State, where the APC, according to him, retains strong grassroots support, while the PDP and other opposition parties lack the capacity to pose a serious electoral challenge Inspite of the unwarranted and unfortunate situation we find ourselves currently in the party in the state.

He urged all governorship aspirants, himself included, and other party stakeholders with genuine concerns about the current situation in the Kwara APC to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that President Tinubu and the party’s National Working Committee have the capacity and political will to resolve outstanding issues, restore unity and position the party for a stronger outing in the 2027 elections.

Araba also cautioned media aides and supporters of individuals against inflammatory rhetoric capable of deepening divisions.

“There is no need for statements that alienate members of the APC family further. Our differences should be addressed with maturity and not in ways that hand political advantage to the opposition,” he added.
