The Niger state police command has disclosed that no fewer than three persons have been killed following the violence between the local vigilantes and aggrieved youths in Kpakungu area of Minna the state capital.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer Niger State Police Command SP Wasiu Abiodun and made available to Journalists on Sunday in Minna
The statement noted that a group of vigilante men mobilized to Kpakungu area to arrest some suspected miscreants and in the process, one of the vigilant members shot one Aliyu dead, which led to some protest within the area.
The incident occurred Saturday around 10: pm which led to some protests within the area along Minna -Bida road in Chanchaga local government area of the state.
Consequently, at the early hours of Sunday October 4, 2026, some of the suspected miscreants mobilized and blocked Bida-Minna road in the name of protest, also moved to Gbeganu community and attacked residents in the area.
Reports revealed that in the course of the attack, it was reported that two persons lost their lives as well; they have been buried according to findings.
The Spokesman of the State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident, saying aid that police tactical teams were drafted to the area, the rioters were dispersed and the road was cleared for free flow of traffic.
He added that Police patrol teams who were mobilized to the location have restored normalcy, while effort to arrest the vigilante man and others involved is ongoing.
