Security operatives on Saturday repelled a bandit attack at Kampani village in Wase Local Government Area of Plateau State, restoring calm to the terror-stricken community.
Residents were thrown into panic when armed attackers stormed the village at about 4 p.m., but a swift response from security forces turned the tide within moments. According to Shapi’i Sambo, a youth leader in the community, the bandits arrived in large numbers, prompting villagers to send distress calls to local authorities, who immediately alerted security operatives.
Sambo explained that security teams engaged the attackers in a fierce exchange, forcing them to flee in disarray into nearby bushes. “Operatives then moved in to secure the area, conducting thorough sweeps to confirm no attackers remained and that all residents were safe,” he said. He added that no casualties were reported among villagers, sparking widespread relief across the community.
Residents have since commended the state government, local authorities, and security operatives for their decisive action. Sambo noted that citizens were being urged to remain vigilant, united, and to report any suspicious movement to security forces.
