The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has deployed Mobile Police Officers to strategic locations across Abuja to prevent unlawful acts and safeguard citizens as the Shiite Movement of Nigeria prepares to protest the reported killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in joint airstrikes allegedly carried out by Israel and the United States.
By 8:00 a.m. today, mobile police personnel were already stationed at key points to avert any breakdown of law and order.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed that Commissioner of Police, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, had earlier briefed and deployed officers to ensure public safety, maintain order, and protect the rights of all citizens ahead of the planned protest scheduled for Wednesday, March 4, 2026.
Meanwhile, the United States Embassy in Abuja has announced the cancellation of all visa appointments for the same day. The U.S. Mission in Nigeria stated: “Due to the potential for protests in Abuja, the U.S. Embassy has cancelled all visa appointments on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. Applicants will be contacted with information on how to reschedule.”
The Embassy advised applicants to monitor its website and social media channels for further updates.
