Residents Panic After Night Raid on Health Centre

Fear has gripped residents of the Oke Ijebu area in Akure following a late-night attack on a health facility that saw several workers abducted by armed men.

The incident, which reportedly occurred around 2:00 a.m., has heightened anxiety among locals, many of whom say the growing pattern of night-time attacks is making communities increasingly unsafe.

According to eyewitnesses, the assailants arrived in a vehicle and forcefully entered the health centre, taking away staff members on duty, including young medical interns, before fleeing the area.

Although patients present at the facility were not harmed, residents said the experience left many traumatised, as the attackers operated freely without immediate resistance.

Community members expressed frustration over what they described as worsening insecurity during late hours, noting that such attacks are eroding their sense of safety even in essential public spaces.

Many residents are now calling for increased night patrols, improved surveillance, and rapid response measures to prevent further incidents in Ondo State.

The attack has also raised concerns about how vulnerable neighbourhoods can be better protected, especially around critical facilities like hospitals and schools.

As of the time of this report, authorities have yet to provide an official update on the incident, leaving residents anxious and demanding swift action to address the situation and secure the release of those abducted.
