Delta State Governor, Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to awarding more construction projects to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc as part of efforts to accelerate infrastructure development and create employment opportunities across the state.
The Governor said sustained investment in infrastructure and strategic partnerships with reputable construction firms remain central to his administration’s plan to improve livelihoods and empower youths.
Oborevwori spoke while addressing workers at the Julius Berger project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area of the state.
He identified unemployment and economic hardship as major challenges confronting many families, stressing the need for deliberate government policies aimed at creating jobs and expanding opportunities for young people.
According to him, many youths are losing hope because of limited opportunities, making it necessary for the government to continue implementing initiatives that promote employment and community development.
The Governor commended workers and contractors handling projects across the state for their dedication and contributions to development, noting that genuine commitment to progress deserves support from all stakeholders.
He reiterated that his administration would continue collaborating with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc on critical infrastructure projects in Warri, Effurun and other parts of the state to stimulate economic growth and improve living standards.
Oborevwori disclosed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to NPA axis has already been awarded to Julius Berger as part of ongoing efforts to modernise infrastructure within the Warri/Effurun metropolis.
He also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for economic reforms aimed at repositioning the nation’s economy, saying the reforms have increased revenues available to state governments for project execution and prompt payment of salaries.
The Governor further revealed that the completed Trans Warri–Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project would be inaugurated after the completion of the Ubeji–Ifie Road.
He assured residents that his administration remains committed to completing critical roads, bridges and other infrastructure projects across the state, adding that the projects would deliver long-term benefits to the people.
He thanked workers and residents for their continued support and cooperation, while praying for the safety of workers, residents and road users. He expressed confidence that the ongoing projects would serve as lasting symbols of development and progress in Delta State.
