The Benue State Police Command has arrested a 23-year-old suspect, Abdullahi Usman of Awe, Nasarawa State, in connection with the killing of Professor Gabriel Saawua Nyityo and his younger brother, John Nyityo.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Udeme Edet, officers attached to the D Division responded to a distress call along the Adaka axis, where they discovered the bodies of the two victims.
The deceased were identified as Prof. Gabriel Saawua Nyityo, 58, and his younger brother, John Nyityo, 19. The police said both men were allegedly killed by unidentified gunmen.
DSP Edet however, disclosed that investigations led to the arrest of Abdullahi Usman, 23, from Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, in connection with the crime.
She added that investigations are ongoing to apprehend other suspects.
It could be recalled that Prof Nyityo was reportedly killed at his residence on Wednesday in Makurdi by unknown gunmen.
