The Kebbi State Police Command has confirmed the release of Hon. Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza, a judge of the Kebbi State High Court, who was abducted from his residence in Bunza Local Government Area a week ago.
In a statement, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the judge regained his freedom on Monday, August 3, 2026.
According to the statement, the judge’s release was confirmed by his family and the Kebbi State Ministry of Justice. Although the kidnappers demanded a ransom, the Command reiterated its firm stance against the payment of ransom.
The police said that with the judge now free, security agencies have intensified efforts to track down the kidnappers and bring them to justice.
The Command also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist in the investigation, assuring that all information received would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.
It thanked residents and partner security agencies for their support and cooperation throughout the period and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property across Kebbi State.
Justice Faruk Hassan Bunza was abducted from his home in Bunza town, Bunza Local Government Area of Kebbi State, last week.
