Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, and the West African Examinations Council, WAEC have introduced a one-time ₦4,000 fee for the verification of WASSCE O’Level results, in a move to simplify admissions into Nigerian tertiary institutions.
The two bodies announced the policy in a joint statement on Tuesday, saying candidates will now be able to verify their WAEC results online through JAMB, without visiting CBT centres or institutions.
Under the new arrangement, candidates seeking admission into any institution regulated by JAMB will verify their WASSCE results only once via the JAMB portal. The verified result will then be forwarded to the institution of choice for screening and admission processing.
“All candidates seeking admission into Nigerian tertiary institutions whose admissions are regulated and coordinated by JAMB will verify their WAEC results once, through JAMB,” the statement said.
JAMB and WAEC said the policy is designed to reduce stress, cut costs, and curb multiple charges by schools, while safeguarding the integrity of candidates’ academic records.
“This collaboration underscores the commitment of both JAMB and WAEC to putting the interests of candidates first, reducing unnecessary costs and simplifying the admission process,” the statement added.
The Examination bodies however advised the candidates to take advantage of the JAMB-provisioned Verification Service to avoid delays in their admission process.
The initiative takes effect immediately for the 2026 admission cycle.
