Niger Delta ex-agitator, General Endurance Amagbein, has called for intensified grassroots mobilization ahead of the 2027 general elections, urging supporters of President Bola Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to focus on engaging communities across the Niger Delta Region.
Amagbein said effective political support must begin at the grassroots, stressing that people should be given clear reasons to support their preferred candidates.
In a statement issued to journalists in Abuja on Monday, Amagbein, who is also known as “Adaka Boro the Second,” said he had sustained grassroots support for the Renewed Hope Agenda over the past few years through engagements with communities, friends and political stakeholders within the APC and other parties.
He said the grassroots initiatives and rallies that began ahead of the 2023 elections would be sustained and expanded ahead of 2027, with the aim of securing massive support for President Tinubu.
According to him, the administration’s programmes and policies in the Niger Delta have positioned Tinubu to secure as much as 97 percent of the votes in the region.
He, however, urged supporters and political stakeholders not to become complacent, saying sustained engagement was necessary to consolidate support for the president.
Amagbein also criticized what he described as recent political manoeuvring involving traditional institutions in the Ijaw nation.
He alleged that some traditional platforms were being politicized and used to advance individual political interests.
He warned against attempts by individuals to hijack the collective interests of the Ijaw people through perceived influence over organizations such as the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) and Ijaw National Congress (INC).
According to him, traditional institutions should remain independent and be allowed to speak truth to power rather than being used as instruments of political rivalry.
Despite the challenges, Amagbein reaffirmed his commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda and said he would continue to mobilize support for President Tinubu independently.
He maintained that even if some Ijaw stakeholders chose to overlook his contributions to the administration, his commitment remained unchanged.
Amagbein said he was not one to abandon causes to which he had committed himself, expressing confidence that his grassroots mobilization efforts would yield results for Tinubu at the 2027 elections.
