Nigeria, Angola Sign Visa Waiver Agreement for Diplomats and Officials

Nigeria and Angola have signed a bilateral agreement waiving visa requirements for holders of Diplomatic and Official passports, aimed at strengthening government-to-government engagements between the two countries.

The agreement was endorsed on Sunday on the sidelines of the 39th Ordinary Session of the African Union in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, signed on behalf of Nigeria, while Angola’s Minister of External Relations, Ambassador Tete Antonio, signed for Angola.

According to a statement by Kimiebi Ebienfa, spokesperson of Nigeria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the visa waiver is expected to facilitate smoother official interactions by eliminating administrative bottlenecks for diplomats and government officials.

The Ministry noted that the initiative will enhance bilateral cooperation, encourage high-level exchanges, and reinforce institutional partnerships between Abuja and Luanda. It also aligns with broader continental objectives to promote free movement of persons, deepen regional integration, and advance Africa’s collective development agenda under the framework of the African Union.
