Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 66 Personnel across various ranks for misconduct and other disciplinary offences.

The Commandant General of the Corps, Prof. Abubakar Ahmed Audi, disclosed this during a press conference at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja on Friday.

Audi said the sanctions included dismissal, reduction in rank, suspension and warning, following the receipt of official correspondence from the Civil Defence, Corrections, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB).

He explained that the affected Officers were subjected to established disciplinary procedures, including investigations and proceedings before the Orderly Room as well as the Senior and Junior Officers’ Disciplinary Committees.

According to him, the committees examined the nature and gravity of the offences committed by the personnel before recommending appropriate disciplinary measures.

The Commandant General said the recommendations were subsequently ratified by the Board, stressing that the Corps would not tolerate acts capable of undermining discipline, professionalism and accountability.

In a related development, Audi confirmed that the Corps had received the list of about 17,000 Senior Officers approved for promotion, as earlier announced by the Ministry of Interior and the CDCFIB.

He assured eligible Officers that the promotion list would be made public and communicated to beneficiaries in due course.

The NSCDC boss reiterated the Corps’ commitment to maintaining institutional discipline, professional excellence and improved service delivery.

He added that the Corps would continue to discharge its statutory responsibilities of protecting lives, property and critical national assets.
