Eric Chelle Set to Become Highest-Earning Super Eagles Coach

Super Eagles head coach, Eric Chelle, is on course to become the highest-paid manager in Nigeria’s football history as talks progress over a contract extension with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

Chelle, who guided the team to a third-place finish at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, still has a year left on his current deal. However, the NFF, working with the National Sports Commission (NSC), is keen to secure his future amid interest from Angola and reported links to French Ligue 1 side Marseille.

The Franco-Malian tactician currently earns $50,000 per month but is demanding a 100% pay rise to $100,000. Sources indicate that while he may not get the full amount requested, the NSC is prepared to offer him in excess of $60,000 monthly, a figure that would make him the highest-paid coach in Super Eagles history.

Negotiations are ongoing, with Chelle expected to receive a formal proposal before the next international break in March.

Despite not meeting the target of reaching the AFCON final, Chelle has won praise for revitalizing the team with fast, attacking football. Fans and analysts alike credit him with injecting fresh energy into the squad, making his continued leadership a priority for Nigerian football authorities.
