The Federal Government has launched the Armed Forces of Nigeria Personnel Online Discount Shop, a welfare initiative to provide serving personnel, veterans and their families with essential goods at discounted prices.
The platform was launched Wednesday in Abuja by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Sen. George Akume, who commended Chief of Defence Staff, General O.O. Oluyede, Defence Headquarters and stakeholders.
Akume said welfare extends beyond operational capabilities, noting a motivated and resilient Armed Forces is sustained by assurance that wellbeing of personnel and families remains priority.
In a statement by Chris Ugwuegbulam Head Information and Public Relations, he described the initiative as a contribution to FG’s comprehensive welfare framework aimed at easing financial pressures, improving access to essential goods and enhancing quality of life.
He highlighted its innovative nature leveraging digital technology through Konga platform in partnership with Zinox Group, demonstrating how technology and strategic partnerships can deliver practical benefits.
He welcomed inclusion of veterans and families, saying their sacrifices deserve continued recognition and support.
Earlier, a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU, was signed between Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group.
Akume said the MoU provides framework for sustainable cooperation between Armed Forces and private sector.
He urged Defence Headquarters to ensure implementation remains transparent, reliable and responsive, adding credibility will be measured by quality of service and tangible benefits.
The SGF expressed gratitude to President and Commander-in-Chief, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for unwavering support to Armed Forces in line with Renewed Hope Agenda.
He encouraged eligible personnel and veterans to make effective use of the platform and formally launched the shop for benefit of personnel, veterans, their families and the nation.
