Federal Government has released the Consolidated Non-Academic Staff Tertiary Institutions Allowance,CONTA, to non-academic staff of all Federal Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges of Education, covering January to August 2026.
The Minister of Education, Dr Maruf Tunji Alausa, who announced the release recently, said the payment demonstrates the commitment of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration to staff welfare, industrial harmony and a stable academic calendar.
Alausa said the payment is in line with the objectives of the Renewed Hope Agenda and reflects the administration’s recognition that the welfare and motivation of both academic and non-academic personnel are essential to the stability and effective functioning of tertiary institutions.
He said the release is part of sustained efforts to address legitimate welfare concerns, promote industrial harmony and minimise disruptions to academic activities.
The announcement comes a day after the commencement of payment of the Consolidated Academic Tertiary Institutions Allowance,CATA, to academic staff on Monday.
According to the minister, the payments reaffirm the government’s commitment to strengthening institutions responsible for producing the skilled workforce required for Nigeria’s socio-economic development.
Alausa said the Federal Ministry of Education will continue to engage unions, institutional authorities and other stakeholders to address outstanding issues and foster a stable, productive and globally competitive tertiary education system.
He commended academic and non-academic staff, heads of institutions, unions and other stakeholders for their patience and cooperation.
The ministry assured personnel and stakeholders that the Federal Government remains committed to fulfilling its obligations, addressing outstanding issues and sustaining reforms to advance human capital development under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
